UAE Travel and Aviation Update During the Middle East Conflict

As of today, 13th March, the current Middle East tensions will likely cause some flight disruptions for the travellers who are flying through the United Arab Emirates. To keep international travel moving efficiently, airlines are changing routes and operations to ensure the safety of their operations.

The UAE has become one of the most significant aviation centres across the world. Dubai International Airport, as well as Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi, are the airports that serve millions of passengers who travel between Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. Due to this hub, the air travel routes are sometimes influenced by various forms of instability in the region.

The UAE airlines are slowly starting operations, readjusting their safety measures for the passengers. Some of the leading UAE airlines are already flying altered or restricted flights.

  • Emirates has also changed certain flights and urges its passengers to check their bookings before travelling. Customers passing through the Dubai transit will not be accepted unless their flight is confirmed.
  • The Etihad Airways has also published new flight times and is serving passengers on the available flights. The travellers are able to handle a booking or check a flight through official airline channels.
  • flydubai is working with a smaller flight schedule on some of its routes, with options of rebooking being flexible to the affected travellers.
  • Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, and Ras Al Khaimah are also operating selective destinations to international locations by Air Arabia.

The travellers going through the UAE may observe:

  • Some flights are using routes other than the usual routes.
  • There might be delays in the arrival or departure.
  • Less significant flight schedule alterations.
  • Increased time taken on connecting flights.

The majority of the airports in the UAE, including the major transit airports in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, are still operating normally.

The airlines have also warned travellers to beware of online ticket fraud or fraudulent refund deals. Customers are advised not to use their personal data and payment information online and use official airline websites or trusted customer support.

Travellers should verify their flight status, bookings, and give themselves sufficient time before going to the airport.
